This sauce appears to have been popularized in the 1920s in Rome. "Arrabbiata" literally translates to "angry", referring to the fearsome spiciness of the hot chili peppers! Our Arrabbiata spice blend is the perfect shortcut to a pasta dish bursting with flavor.
This classic Roman Arrabbiata is simple and easy to make. These perfectly blended flavors make for an interesting and surprising tomato sauce. Of course, you can adjust the seasoning to your taste - use less if you prefer a more mild sauce, more if you want to really kick up the flavor.
For a particularly delicious sauce, use imported San Marzano tomatoes. These tomatoes are grown in the rich volcanic soil of Mount Vesuvius in Campania, Italy. The unique properties of this soil make for a sweet, especially juicy tomato coveted around the world.
